We have a new MAF kit for the Toyota Land Cruiser. It makes acceleration much smoother and effortless. This is a really nice upgrade for these 4.0L engines.
Here is the engine before installation of the MAF kit.
This is what it looks like after installation of the kit. The stock air inlet and air filter enclosure are retained.
All of the stock hose and vacuum line connections are preserved. Connection of the hoses is done with an aluminum adapter that we have fabricated specifically for this application.
Here is a comparison of the inlets of the stock air flow meter vs. the MAF 3.0 sensor that replaces it. Note the multiple sharp right angles internal to the air flow meter. By comparison, the MAF sensor has a much larger cross section and is a lot smoother.
This photo compares the old and new transitions that feed the air flow meter and MAF sensor respectively. The silicone elbow in the MAF kit has a 4 inch diameter and is far less restrictive.
The wire connections are completed with a custom wire harness for this application. This photo shows the connectors for the new MAF sensor and the IAT sensor that are used.
Wire connections to the engine harness are completed a few inches from the ECU. The ECU is mounted to the roof of the glove box. Complete instructions accompany the kit which detail the wire colors and pin numbers needed to make the required connections. This photo shows what it looks like after the wire connections are completed.
The Toyota Land Cruiser is a rugged, solidly built vehicle that is fun to own and drive. Unfortunately that heavy duty construction makes the vehicle weigh 4597 lbs. That is a lot for the stock 4.0L engine to move around. This MAF conversion really helps. After installing this kit you will feel the improvement the first time you press the accelerator.

My 1992 80 series land cruiser is all of a sudden running very rough and in sound, almost bogging or rough vibration. It does this when idling and during acceleration. Makes the steering wheel vibrate. It seems to be missing as well. I replaced the mass air flow sensor two years ago, and the fuel sensor. I am thinking plugs maybe? But I like the idea of this MAF. What is the cost? Is this something I can replace myself?

I have a 94 3.0 v6 it has the same exact maf as the landcruiser. Will this work on it and if so please send info on where and who to contact to purchase it.
We can’t say how well the kit will work on another application. We have only tried it on the 1992 Land Cruiser.
I have a 93 Land Cruiser. It is the first year for the 4.5L 1FZ-FE. It uses air meter #2225066010. Would this kit work for the new 1FZ? I plan on installing a turbo running low boost on factory fuel system and thought a maf conversion would help in mild tuning needed.
We have not done that model year. At this time we don’t have a kit for you.
Hey just looking at this and noticed that wasn’t available for 1fz-fe in November just wondering if u have one yet or if u will be in the near future and how much are the units?
We do not have plans to do a kit for that application. The cost of the existing Land Cruiser kit is $779.
will this work with LPG?
It is a good possibility, but we have not doe any testing with LPG.
Hi, I have a 1994 landcrusier with the1fzfe and MAF sensor on the intake. They changed away from using this in Australia from1995. Please make a prototype for the 1994 model as I too am heading down the turbo path but would like first to give this a go.

Land cruiser 80 series is very popular 93 to 97 its the intro of 1fze in states. I have a 94 an want to elimnate the vaf to maf please help! im interested plus i would ljke to super charge or turbo. thwy same setup was used on 70 series also an the machos an 80s in south america africa an austraila all land cruisers prior to 1995 with 1fze u could make some money too with the 22re vaf but the 1fze is the winner its the solid axle tripple lockers full floating frnt rear suspension. the Forum mudd I hate mudd cruiserparts.net sor toyota an redline toyota colorado an many mor would sale your product the vaf isnt reliable as yor product an maf plus you lget lean burn codes when hard reving iratic idling
We have not had a 1994 project vehicle in our shop to use for measurements. There is a possibility that with you help on a few things we could develop a kit for the 1fze.

I’m running a 1994 1FZ-FE on LPG and am having the same issue as normal with backfiring blowing my MAF Sensor. I’m not at the point of having a turbo (yet) right now I am thinking of just carrying 2/3 spares and my tool kit.
